Friday: On Monday I started working an extra half hour to bank time so I can take a flex day once a month. I don’t work the extra time on Fridays so it was nice to be home early.
Saturday: We had to get up early because a repair dude was coming in to look at our leaky fan in the bathroom. Even though we were up early and the repair guy was done by 10am we didn’t really make use of our time. We had a leisurely morning of watching The Finder and Chuck and ate Kraft Dinner for lunch. We left the house around 1pm and headed out to Sherwood Park to check out a house. It was a spec home and our real estate agent was told it wasn’t finished but we would be able to go inside. We got there and there was a guy installing hardwood floor in the living room and it was loud and messy. We quickly snuck upstairs to look around. It was just an okay house. We noticed a house next door that was for sale so we decided to check it out. If I could take the downstairs of the second house and the upstairs from the first house we would be in business!
After checking out the houses in Sherwood Park we decided to head to check out show homes in a new neighbourhood called The Orchards. I’m not a South side girl so that was already a black mark in my book but the neighbourhood is super new and in the middle of nowhere so another black mark. The two show homes we saw just weren’t that great. The downstairs eating area and living room were small and a lot of wasted space with big a entryway and hallways. Then the upstairs was too huge. I totally realize I am too picky but if the house wasn’t going to cost me an arm, leg and my first born then I could live with it but it does cost phenomenally.
After The Orchards we checked out Tamarak for a few minutes before heading to Ryan and Lisas house for Ryans birthday dinner. Again too picky and the price…I really would like to be able to own a home and travel. Don’t get me wrong the houses are beautiful with all the shiny bells and whistles but I am hoping this will be the house we will live in forever so I am really trying to look past the distracting shininess of everything and think functionality for now and the future.
Lisa went all out for dinner; we had chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, thing-a-ma-gigs (?!?!?!), and steamed carrots and broccoli. Ryan had to work late so dinner was a bit later than planned so we had to leave right after because we had pre-purchased tickets to see Serenity at WEM. They had planned to go bowling but I guess they decided to stay and watch movies and play video games.
Sunday: After sleeping in (making up for Saturday!) I woke up and got ready to go shopping with my mom. I had been feeling pretty dumpy for a while so I was hoping to cash in on some seasonal sales and use some gift certificates/birthday promotions. Man did I hit the jackpot! I have decided that I am a tank top and cardigan type girl so that is what I focused on. Cleo has some amazing colors of tops and cardigans. I am super happy with my purchases. After an exhausting shopping spree I came home and showed off my purchases to Alexander and then took a nap. Woke up and made spaghetti for dinner and watched CSI NY before going to bed.
Why do weekends have to go by so fast? This week we are going to look at more show homes. We aren’t in a super super rush to build/buy but it would be nice to decide if we are building or buying old etc. so we can plan some vacations.
