Part 1 – Getting Ready
I woke up bright and early and headed down to have breakfast with Morna, Pam and my mom. I don’t know if I would say I was nervous but I was anxious on how the day would go. After I finished eating Pam and I went up to the front desk for them to call me a golf cart to pick us up. I can’t remember but either there wasn’t one available or they couldn’t get a hold of them. If we had to walk to the spa we had to rush back to the room to grab my stuff and start to hoof it. I just by chance decided to try calling the spa when I got back to my room and they had a golf cart available after all and they would pick Pam and I up in 10 minutes right near our rooms.
Pam came with me to the spa to get pictures of me getting my hair and makeup done. I’m really glad she did because she got some awesome pictures! For my hair all I knew is that I wanted it up and I was putting in a veil. I guess I was naive that the hair stylist would have some options and what not. Unfortunately she didn’t speak very good English and just handed me some magazines with hair ideas. While I was flipping through the magazines the stylist started curling my hair and teasing it and putting boatloads of hair spray in my hair. When I finally decided on a hairstyle and the stylist started working on it I was nervous because it looked like she didn’t really know what she was doing (the thoughts running through my mind were “I made sure to book my hair and makeup early so there should 2 hours after I am done at the spa and before the wedding that I can get Morna or whoever to try and fix my hair”). Other workers in the salon would come over and she would gesture at the magazine picture and my hair and speak in Spanish. When she was finished she had whispy hairs sticking up above my veil. I didn’t like it so I made her put them under my veil. The back part of my hair semi-hidden by the veil was a hot mess all pinned up haphazardly and when we got back to the hotel room I had Morna try to re-pin it a bit better. Truthfully I wasn’t a big fan of my hair. It wasn’t as smooth as I hoped and you could see bobby pins. Everybody else loved it and at the end of the day it didn’t really matter and if I truly wanted to make sure my hair was awesome I should have booked a trial.
Way back at the beginning of the New Year I went to Mac and had them recommend makeup for me so I brought all that along to the spa with me. They had tones of Mac makeup of their own but I am glad I brought my own because 1) it was the right colors for me and 2) I knew where my makeup had been. I think the lady who did my makeup did an amazing job!

Pam and I were able to get a golf cart back to our hotel. Pam went to her room to go get ready and I went into my room where Ee was taking pictures of my dress and our rings. Alexander and Darcy had a room across the hall to get ready in. After a while Morna and my mom joined me in my room. Basically we just hung out in the room chatting. My mom was nervous and she said me being all calm helped her. The corsages came to my room so I made sure they went to who they were supposed to go to. I helped Morna get into her dress and put her flower in her hair. I didn’t get into my dress until it was almost time to go because I didn’t want to mess it up or anything. I had my mom slather sun screen all over me so I didn’t burn or get my rash. The higher shoes* I was going to wear I didn’t because I got my rash all over my feet so they hurt my feet so I ended up wearing my flat ones. While it sucks I got my rash at all I am super thankful it was only on my feet!

*Side Note: I ordered my dress in petite length because I didn’t want to:
1) pay a zillion dollars to get my dress with all the lace hemmed and
2) if I didn’t get it in petite length and didn’t want to hem I would have to buy ginourmous high heels to wear with it (I can’t wear high heels on a good day never mind on a beach!).
I didn’t know the exact length the petite length would be on me and the sandals I bought before finding out were too flat so I needed a pair just a tad higher. I needed the higher ones before getting the bustle put on my dress so I had to do a quick shopping trip before my alterations appointment (my dress was late coming in so I needed to get my alterations done asap so I didn’t have the luxury of time for shopping around or changing my appointment). I ended up finding a pair of plain white ones with a thicker heel that worked (and they were on sale!). There was a perfect pair at Bridal Debut but I could not justify paying $150 on white sandals that would get dirty fast and I would probably not wear again.
At approx. 12:50pm our wedding coordinator came and picked me, Morna, Ee and my parents up at my room and took us in a golf cart to our ceremony site. As I was walking to the golf cart a douche bag man passing us said “it isn’t too late to change your mind”. Oh, you are so funny f*ck face. I should have used my bridezilla card as it was my last chance and decked him! *grin*

Your dress is absolutely beautiful!
It sounds so stressful and wonderful all at once...LOL. I did take some good tips out of it though (make sure i get a trial run on my hair, and bring own make-up).
