Wednesday we slept in. Because we slept in and took our time getting ready the breakfast buffet was closed so we had to eat at the Snack Bar. Before heading over to the snack bar to meet Darcy, Ee, Pam and Morna we made a quick stop off at the wedding coordinators office to drop off our guest “books” and the palm tree boxes we wanted set up at everyone’s place setting. Then we just confirmed with her the times for the next day. At the snack bar they had leftover breakfast buffet food and nibbles. I went to pump some cheese sauce on my chips and the cheese sauce was watery (yuck!) so I had to transfer my food onto another plate to rescue it from getting wet and soggy.
After food we walked around the resort a little bit taking pictures of everything. I can’t say enough good things about the resort! We would go back in a heartbeat. I guess the only one ‘bad’ thing was parts of our beach weren’t super sandy.
The kids pool/play area:
After walking around taking pictures we hung out at the pool for a bit and then headed off to the beach where decided to try our hand at snorkeling again.
We had a quick dip before we met up with a group of us who wanted to head down to Playa Del Carmen to check out the sites (and of course do a little shopping!). The hotel was once again able to get us a ginourmous bus taxi. Our driver dropped us off at the beginning and he didn’t even take the money we owed! He asked what time we would like to be picked up to go back to the hotel and we could pay him in full then.
Alexander and I had been to Playa twice last time we were in Mexico so it wasn’t a big thing that we go but I did want to pick up some vanilla and look around to see if there was anything I wanted. We walked around with Morna and Travel Agent Lisa. Morna shopped up a storm! While Alexander and I were in a shop looking at lamps made from seeds of some kind Morna and Lisa fell for the “I was your waiter at dinner the other night” and we got taken a little off the main road into a jewellery store. Morna bought a couple things at a reasonable price (I think) and I bought a ring that looked like a leaf. I probably paid too much for it but it is unique. We all met up where we got dropped off and out taxi driver was waiting for us to take us back to the resort.
A wedding at the gazebo before we left for Playa
After we got back from shopping we got dressed and headed to dinner with my parents, my Uncle Robert and my cousin Ian. We ate the Caribbean restaurant. The night before Alexander's Aunt and Uncle said they didn’t like the restaurant very much. We didn’t find it bad at all. This is the restaurant where Alexander saw someone with a tri-coloured drink and asked what it was. For the rest of the trip his Riviera Maya drink was his drink of choice!
